Kindergarten
Our staff warmly welcome you. We are here to meet you, to listen, to discuss our education and to answer any questions you may have.
Michael House School has three Kindergartens, two of which are groups of approximately 16 children, one smaller Kindergarten for the younger children taking their first steps towards independence. The Kindergartens stand within a beautiful garden surrounded by woodland encompassing the children in the changing seasons, birdsong, flowers and puddles!
The rhythm of daily life is simple and unhurried leaving space and time for imagination and initiative to unfold … allowing the children’s innate need for play to flourish.
Our play environment consists of natural tools - wood, silk, cotton muslin, simple dolls, wooden trucks… allowing them to work from within, and their imagination to shine through.
Every day we play, and each day has its own special activity:
- Baking and bread making
- Painting with water colours
- Gardening
- Modelling with beeswax
- Movement
Each season brings its own celebration, with storytelling, ring games, songs and poems, food and colour. These provide the focus for our active kindergarten life.
