Time Capsule found at the school!

This little ‘Elastoplast’ tin was unearthed (literally) earlier this year, whilst a building was being demolished at the Weleda factory in Ilkeston, Derbyshire. This used to be our school site (Michael House School moved to it’s current location a few miles away at Shipley in the Silver Jubilee year of 1977). Inside the tin was found a note which read so,

“To the finder:-

This floor was laid by the pupils of class 10 of Michael House School on Friday / Saturday 5/6 February 1971. A few pre-decimlisation coins are included. Approximately where X marks the spot legend says there is buried treasure.

Barbara Grace Beaumont - nicknamed Bumrot
Robin Henry Blackman - Robinski Black Manninov
Diane Christine Lyne-Watt - Coll (Thunderpants)
Margaret Elizabeth Nunn - Nunny
Rosemary Ruth Pickering - Rosebud
Raymond David Pridmore - Percyballs
Linda Susan Tieman - Fuzz”

As you can see from the note encapsulating the moment in time in 1971, the school community was thriving then as it continues to do now – as parents and children were laying a floor over the weekend period in order to keep maintenance and tradesman costs as low as possible!

It is now our quest to find ‘Bumrot’ and crew, thank them for capturing time for us and for bringing a smile to all who read it some 37 years later! So if you are any of these people or indeed no of them we would love to hear from you.
