World Book Day 2013 – Thursday 7th March

As you will probably have read in last week’s newsletter, Thursday 7th March, 2013 is World Book Day, a celebration of all things books and reading and this year we will be marking the event by having a book fair hosted by myself with Usborne books, Children’s Publisher of the Year 2013.  The book fair will be open in the library from 12:30 – 4:30 and children will be able to browse a selection of books on display and then place orders for any book from the full Usborne catalogue.  Books are priced generally between £3.99 and £9.99 and will be delivered to school the following week.  Payment can be made on the day either in cash (change would be welcomed!) or cheque made payable to ‘Helen Duffy’ please.  Each child will be given a World Book Day £1 token which will be accepted with any book order.

The book fair will remain open at the end of school until 4:30pm to allow parents to come and browse the books too.  I will also be able to take any payments on credit/debit cards at this point.

This is an excellent opportunity to expand the library stock as, depending on the size of the order placed at the end of the book fair, both myself and Usborne will be donating a minimum of 35% of the total order value back to the school in free books.   Hopefully if we can place an order of £400+ this amount will be closer to 100%.  So please come along and have a browse, order a book or two and help to increase the library stock with some beautiful new books.

If you would like to browse the complete catalogue of Usborne books before the book fair, please visit www.usborneonline.org/helenduffy and select ‘Browse catalogue’.  If you are not able to make it to the book fair on the day and would like to buy something to contribute to the overall school order total, please email me with your choice of books by the end of Sunday 10th March and I will add your books to the order.

Kind regards,

Helen Duffy  (Kindergarten parent and Usborne Organiser)
