We would like to announce the passing of our dear friend and colleague Mary Rocha Leite.
Mary passed away peacefully on Monday 28th January in the Nottingham City Hospital at 1:15pm after a brave and long battle with cancer. Right up until the very end Mary was still very active in the School life, singing with the School Parents & Friends Choir and joining in with the fairs and performances. Mary supported the Kindergarten staff with her wealth of guiding wisdom and her wonderful craft abilities.
Mary first joined Michael House School as a French Teacher in 1984 and then a year or so later took on the role of Kindergarten Teacher up until 2002 . In 2002 Mary moved to Canada where she had been inspirational in starting The Sun Haven Waldorf School in British Columbia at its inaugural meetings the year before. Mary continued to work as a Kindergarten Teacher at Sun Haven and was instrumental in helping the school to grow and develop from its early roots into a flourishing Waldorf School. Mary came back to settle in Ilkeston in 2010 and in 2011 she married her partner of 24 Years Alistair Clark.
Our loving thoughts and prayers are with Mary’s daughter Lidia and her husband Alistair at this time of transition.
All are warmly invited and very welcome to attend the funeral and gatherings afterwards, details of which are listed below:
